We have one week left in South America, and 3 and a half months left for the entire trip!?!?! Where have the three years gone!
We're in Cartagena at the moment, the sweat capital of South America. Having spent the majority of the last 8 months complaining about being cold (traveling through the Andes, the cold shouldn't have come as a suprise really) it's a bit of a shock to hit the tropical humid heat that is Cartagena. What has softened the blow has been meeting Brian and Marcelle in San Gil while paragliding (which will go down as one of the best experiences of the trip for me). They work at an international school here, and Brian kindly offered to let us stay in his flat while he was still in San Gil. His flat has air-conditioning. His flat also isn't a hostel. His flat has ocean views and the most amazing breeze. His flat has a shower with water pressure and a kitchen with a sharp knife! His flat has really good internet connection. In short his flat is amazing. But Brian (and also Marcelle) are easily much cooler than his flat, and made our stay in this town so much 'more', when they returned and we got to spend time with them.
Today we catch a bus to a small beach inTayrona NP where we camp on the beach (they provide hammocks) and spend our time snorkling and hopefully letting our livers recover! In a week we take a small sailing boat from Cartagena for five days through the San Blas islands to Panama. Which means we will begin our exploration of Central America and the last leg of our trip.
As always, if anyone wants to join us, let us know when and we will tell you where we'll be.
